PA's ALLOWED TO DELEGATE TASKS
Health Care Assistants have modified their rules and regulations to
allow PA's to delegate tasks or to "give orders to". House
Bill 2475 passed in the last legislative session. For more information,
go to: www.leg.wa.gov or
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=2475&year=2007
IMPORTANT BILL PASSED!
The amended bill 1103 passed just before the end of the
legislative session and is awaiting the Governor's signature. This
will provide for a pilot project for the Medical Quality Assurance
Commission to have some autonomy over the next five years to manage
their own budget, staff, regulation and discipline activities.
This is a very important step forward for physicians and physician
assistants in the State of Washington! We didn't get everything
we wanted out of this legislation, but it is a huge step toward independence.
We thank all of you who contacted your legislators
regarding this bill. The process regarding the implementation
of the bill will be posted on the WAPA website. This will
go into effect,
July
1, 2008, so we have a lot of work to do before then.
ELECTIONS RESULTS!
Thank you for voting. The 2008-2009 fiscal year Board
of Directors who were elected are:

Region 2 Director: Carmen Young
Region 4 Director: John Tomchick
2 Year AAPA Delegate: Kaye Kvam
1 Year AAPA Delegate: Jeanne Ellern
1 Year AAPA Delegate: Sandie James
1 Year AAPA Delegate: Allison Warmington
