Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic urgent care team. As a Physician Assistant in our urgent care setting, you will provide high-quality medical care to patients with acute illnesses or injuries that require immediate attention. Your primary role will be to assist the attending physician in diagnosing and treating patients efficiently and effectively.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical history, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests as required. Assess and triage patients based on the urgency and severity of their condition. Interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory results and imaging studies, to aid in diagnosis and treatment decisions.
  • Provide direct patient care and treatment for a wide range of urgent care conditions, such as minor injuries, infections, respiratory illnesses, and acute exacerbations of chronic conditions. Perform minor surgical procedures, including wound suturing, incision and drainage, and foreign body removal, as necessary. Administer medications, vaccinations, and other appropriate treatments.
  • Collaborate with the attending physician and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. Consult with specialists or arrange referrals for patients requiring further evaluation or specialized care. Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and progress notes, in accordance with established protocols and legal requirements. Ensure timely and appropriate documentation of all patient encounters, procedures performed, and medications administered.
  • Adhere to evidence-based guidelines, best practices, and protocols in delivering patient care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction. Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory, and organizational policies and procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and possession of a valid state license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Previous experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or a related setting is preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and ability to independently assess and manage acute medical conditions.
  • Proficiency in performing minor surgical procedures and basic medical techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and make sound clinical judgments under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in healthcare practice.
