PAs available to work: Available to Work
WAPA is looking for PAs who are available and willing to step up and work in a hospital setting in their county or one nearby.

March 27, 2020: Executive Order by Gov. Inslee suspending delegation agreements (DA) for 30 daysProclamation on DAs

We are looking for PAs in each county, who are available to work during this pandemic. If your private practice or your specialty was affected by lay-offs or closures, contact us and be put on a list for employers. We realize not every organization offers or has switched over to telemedicine/telehealth.

If you are willing to step up and work in a hospital setting in your county or another nearby county- please let us know. We want to be prepared if a surge arrives.

We are compiling a list of PAs for employers, who need assistance. WAPA is working to prepare this information as soon as possible, in advance, as we realize there will be some paperwork, delegation agreements, medical malpractice coverage, per diem options, etc to consider prior to mobilization of available PAs.

Thank you for your consideration and assistance.

March 19, 2020 President's Message

HB 2378 was signed by Governor Inslee today at 2:00pm. As many of you know our bill passed the house and senate unanimously. We are grateful to our lobbyist Chelsea Hager, WSMA president Bill Hirota, Representative Cody and Representative Riccelli for their stalwart support of our bill.
WAPA YouTube Video on our Bill and what it means to PAs (3.5 minutes):

Rep. Riccelli was instrumental in maintaining support for our bill despite opposition from various groups. This bill will help ease the way for PAs practicing in Washington by changing the delegation agreement to the practice site, changing the PA/MD & DO ration to 10/1, allowing remote supervision for rural PAs and consolidating licensing for PAs working with DOs to the medical commission.

The bill goes into effect June 2021. This is why you pay membership dues! We advocate for every PA in Washington. We need all 4200 PAs living in Washington to join WAPA so we can maintain the momentum in the legislature. Our lobbyist will continue to monitor bills in the next session that could potentially impact your practice and collaborate with the state medical association on common ground issues. This takes money. We cannot hope to maintain our present status without your support. Use your CME money to pay your membership. It is worth it.

COVID 19 may severely impact our ability to gather as colleagues so we must band together and keep all options viable to maintain our organization. We welcome donations of any kind if you cannot join WAPA. Legislative Contribution to WAPA

If you are a PA and work in Washington state, please join WAPA. We need your membership now more than ever. Please join us. JOIN WAPA

Stay well and give your supervising doc a hug!
